Interview in Finland?

Post by march9320 » Fri Aug 17, 2018 5:53 am

Hi Everyone!

My fiancé (a Finn) and I are getting married in October this year. After that i will apply for my first residence permit on EnterFinland. I have got some questions here.

1. In the application i need to state my date of arrival in Finland. Since I'm moving there as soon as my permit is approved and issued, the date of arrival depends on the processing time. Should i just type in my earliest possible date of arrival?

2. If i apply for my permit in my home country in October, do i have to stay in my home country to wait for any possible interviews(if any) or can i do the interviews in Finland on my vocation there? Or maybe do i have to either reapply for a new application in Finland or to fly back to my home country to do it?

Some background information about me here:
1. I'm from Hong Kong. So i can travel visa-free to Finland and stay there for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.
2. I'm planning to go to visit my husband-to-be in March for 3 months next year if my permit hasn't been issued by then yet. So if i get an interview request during that period, I need to know if i can do it in Finland.

Thank you for your time! :D

I'd probably come here and apply here, unless there are work or other things that will keep you in HK for a while. You can overstay that visa free period while your application is pending. It might make traveling harder after that 90 period, at least in Schengen area.

edit. I might advice to apply abroad, if migri would give better estimation of how long the process takes, but 4-9 months...

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.
