EU Citizen bringing Non EU Spouse
EU Citizen bringing Non EU Spouse
Hello everyone, I'm a dual UK/Irish Citizen moving to Finland next year, I am married to an American, I'm planning on moving over beforehand to work, once settled I'll be bringing my wife over, is this a fairly straight forward process, one thing I'm confused about, do I send the application in BEFORE she gets to Finland or does she land and then register?
Re: EU Citizen bringing Non EU Spouse
You will register as EU citizen living in Finland and she will need to apply for residence card for EU family members:

Fairy simple process, cheaper than other permits, and faster also.
She can also come at the same time with you and apply for the permit in Finland. Only issue is that she has no right to work these 2-3 months before the first permit is issued.

1-2 if done online instead of paper.

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

Re: EU Citizen bringing Non EU Spouse
Thanks for the help, I figured there'd be a period where she couldn't work, fortunately we're coming over with a DECENT amount of savings, we were originally intending to move to Ireland and it sounds like it's the same simple process in Finland as it would be in Ireland so that's great to know, Thanks again for the help.
