Any reason to apply for EU Blue Card?

I’m about to apply for a specialist visa, any reason I should apply for the EU blue card instead? As far as I can tell, no real benefits worth considering.

Visa is for visiting, up to three months, residence permit is for residing.
You should apply for blue card if you intend to hop from one country to another.
