decision made

Post by sijazme » Thu Aug 29, 2019 11:23 am

Finnish Immigration - You have been granted a residence card for the period of 29.8.2019-
29.8.2024. You will receive the card by post within 2-3 weeks.

I assume that the personal identity number will come with the card or do I have to ask for it from migri?

You could march to police and try to get id card. Their systems should show that you have registered your right of residence and hauling small id card is much handier than passport.

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

Is it easier to do online or going to the police office helps?
Also will they have my personal identity number as well?

You should not have a method to identify yourself to the Poliisi online service.

Yes, so how do I get this online identification thing done? Opening a bank account with OP is enough?

1. Have a bank account and some code table on paper (wait 1-2 weeks)
2. Apply for ID card in police station (wait a month and pick it up in police station)
3. Visit some bank branch to activate online ID with that card (instant)

There is also some code that comes with the ID card (arrive 1-2 weeks after the card), which might be used for some online identifications if you have a card reader.

It’s possible to combine steps 1 and 3. You can have the id card delivered to your nearest R-kioski and it’s unlikely to take a month.

Yes, it should take from 1 to 2 weeks. What it can take some time is to find a free spot in their booking system. I am not sure anyway if you can go without a booked time.

You have the right to just show up and queue. It doesn’t have to be quick though. ”Without an appointment, you may have to queue for hours.” https://www.poliisi.fi/licences/appointment_booking

In my experience it came with the card. Then I ....
1. Went to maistraatti for municipality registration
2. Went to police station to get an ID - ( it was fast ...however they wont process when you are not registered in a municipality)
3. Went to Open a bank account with my police ID (in order for you to get a net banking access)

The number should come with the decision. Can't you see one document on the website about registration and your identity number?

It's how I could start sending rental applications before even arriving.

This is wrong, you don't need ID card to use online banking. You do need ID card for strong authentication, meaning accessing online services like Kela, Tax office, etc.

What website do you use for rental applications?
