Does RP extension application advance at all before the visit to Migri?

Interesting post and lots of valuable replies.
I have applied today (Feb 06, 2020) for my RP extension, as my 1st permit expires in exactly 3 months.
The nearest appointment I was able to have is in Migri Kuopio, located 2h away from my city (Joensuu) and it is in 2 weeks! So for 2 weeks, I will have the big red '' Waiting for processing'' window on my enterFinland account.Too bad they don't start the processing before but I totally understand the reasoning, so no big deal.
I quickly glanced the waiting time in other migri service points and they have no availability before the marked week. (we are currently wk 6)
Oulu & Rovaniemi(wk11), Vaasa (wk 14),Tampere & Lappeenranta(wk16) Turku (wk17) and Helsinki the worst (wk19)
So this is the personal tip I used : BOOK THE APPOINTMENT WAY BEFORE ACTUALLY APPLYING ! I did it 3 weeks ago and the earliest I could secure was for week 8 !.
