Hi,
does anyone know how will the work permits be processed with lay-off situation these days. Due to corona, employers have given layoffs to employees and if the job contract happens to be permanent, but with no play-slips (Layoff), how will immigration process those applications.
Also, does seeking unemployment benefits from TE office during this lay off affects the work permit decision?

Residence permits based on work have a certain minimum income, you wouldn't get a residence permit for an employment with flexible hours and 0 guaranteed hours.Finnforum wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 3:00 pmdoes anyone know how will the work permits be processed with lay-off situation these days. If you are unemployed for for some limited amount of time now it shouldn't be a problem for an extension later.
In normal circumstances a residence permit extension would not be granted to someone who is laid off at the time of application, what would happen now is less clear.
It shouldn't be a problem.
Re: Work Permit amidst lay-off situation
Thanks. I was wondering that the current situation has laid off a lot of employees, the situation will improve hopefully after some months, but right now it's very confusing. Without any working hours but with a permanent contract, the requirements for working visa are not fulfilled but again, there is emergency situation across the whole country, so how will someone work. Migri does not have any specific guidelines regarding these sorts of issues on their website. I have tried to contact them but still no response yet.
