Few questions -Application and Working while studying

Post by jaynor » Sun Oct 18, 2020 11:42 am

Hi All,

I'm an international student out side of Europe, planing to apply for a MSc in autumn 2021 and have few questions .

1. I have around 10 years of experience as a Software Engineer. Is it possible to find part time IT jobs in cities out side of Helsinki? For example in Turku, Tampere, Oulu.

2. Is there a limit on number of applications I can do ? Number of course I can apply to?

3. Is there any difference in Visa issued for for 1 year masters vs 2 year masters ? For example will I have extension visa for 1 year after completing 1 year Msc?

4. In some places I saw "Open Path", for example here https://studyinfo.fi/app/#!/korkeakoulu ... 3768277099. Is that something we can apply as an international student .

Thanks in advance !

Depends on whether your skills are a good match for a job offered.
There are unemployed Finns with 30 years of experience as a Software Engineer, while other people have no problems finding a job.

You need a reason for staying in Finland for being granted a residence permit or a residence permit extension for up to as long as this reason exists.
Common reasons are studies or having an employment in Finland, an extension based on studying cannot be granted when you are no longer studying.
There is a shorter one-time job search residence permit that can be applied for after successful completion of studies in Finland.

Read what is written under "Application process".
