Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

Post by Neptune » Thu May 31, 2012 5:37 pm

Anyone here into Stand Up Paddleboarding in the Helsinki area? I am interested in joining others who do this sport and investigating the area around Helsinki by SUP!

I have my own equipment.

Cheers,
Neptune

Are there any surf spots in Finland? I ride a big old long board and will cheerfully surf a 30 cm wave- especially a Finnish wave.

Hi Andrew,

I am also a longboarder in Finland where waves are a rare thing :(

You can see a couple of videos on youtube of Finnish surfing, but spots are Hanko, Yyteri, etc

Hence why I took up SUP over here!!

Cheers

Anyone know of rental places for SUP kit in Helsinki area? I'm usually paddling a kayak around these parts, fancy giving this a try...

You can check out the RipCurl shop in lauttasaari just minutes away from Helsinki, well, in Helsinki.. but the west side. They have all the gear and info you could need.

well.. i learned surfing in canada last summer.. my last session was in january and it was snowing on the beach.. only got one or two waves that day but it was amazing. (ok. the water is still 8 degrees then as it is an ocean)

i was just wondering if it would be worth it to ship over my wetsuit (only a 5/4 tho) and try to find a board here..
as i only learned last summer how to surf i am not good.. but i love it and so why not do it here once in a while.. so bring onthose big winds..

i just got in the city and found a place since today so hopefully one of the next days i find some time to stop at the ripcurl store to see if they know more
