I can't speak for the Helsinki area, but these people have some of the best prices in Finland, for both rifles and glass:

http://www.ahtihuvila.fi/

(The shop is in Soini)

If you already know what you want (e.g. have already selected something from a show), then consider requesting a quote from this company in Slovenia. The guy who runs it is called Teodor, and is trusted by many shooters in Europe. The only negative side is that he doesn't yet stock all of the best brands. Sometimes he has a good price, sometimes not.

Finally, what sort of rifle are you mounting the glass on? And what will you be shooting at?

It depends what it's for. My SO buys most of his stuff online from Germany. But he did say that Budget Sport (eg the one in Friisilä/Suomenoja) has some pretty good stuff.

Not a hunter, but this shop has a good deal of hunting equipment. They also have a basic english version of their website http://www.varuste.net/en/Scopes
You can buy online or go to the physical shop Ruosilankuja 3, 00390 Helsinki (Konala)

YMMV, but my experience of Varuste is that they are:

- expensive
- slow to despatch orders (even stuff that's "in stock")

I've spent around €3k with them over the last few years, and the experience was the same with every order.

I no longer shop there for outdoor kit, instead I order from Germany:

- much cheaper
- postage only a couple of euro more
- arrives quicker

In my opinion, businesses with crap service (like Varuste.net), will slowly go out of business once Finns find the confidence to mail order from abroad.

And to illustrate the point, I just picked up some new snowshoes from Posti.

139.90 x 2 sets = 279,80€
Delivery from Spain = 12,10€
Total = 291,90€

Dispatch was same day as order placed (included tracking too!) and they were delivered in a week (a week is the usual time Varuste.net take before putting your order into a cardboard box..)

Varuste would have cost 410€, although postage would have been free.

Money saved = 118,10€

Different VAT rates between Finland a Spain account for 8,76€ of the cost difference. Greed probably accounts for most of the rest...

So for anyone looking for mail order stuff, I strongly recommend looking at other EU countries.

Same brand, model etc?
Because it's easy to find cheap snowshoes but they ain't worth nought.

Greed, you say? Forgetting that the cost of life, wages, etc in Spain are much lower than here, that they don't have a physical shop, which always lowers costs and that they are a huge business, not only for snow equipment, but also trekking, diving, biking, etc...
I am not for or against a particular shop, I have shopped online (and even in diveinn) and for some items it's perfect. But for other things I prefer being able to see them, have them in my hand, try them on, maybe talk to the staff... And the OP had asked about a shop in the Helsinki area, so I gave him a physical shop...

Of course. What would be the point of a comparison between different models :?

We've had this sort of discussion before on FF. Most of these factors don't add up to the huge difference in prices. You could easily find exactly the same results for a shop in Germany (in fact I actually found this website via searching google.de, and made my order on the German interface of their website. I didn't know it was a Spanish company until the tracking email arrived)

You gave him exactly what he asked for  I'm not criticising you, I'm criticising Varuste.net. Don't take every criticism personally, otherwise they'll give you a Finnish passport before morning! :D
