Hi,

I'm a EU citizen and I've been a temporary from March 2014 to June 2015 and then a permanent from June 2015. Decided recently to apply for citizenship.

I'm still waiting for:
- the results from the YKI test that I sat for on 29.3.
- the palkkatodistus

I've filled in the application and after I get the above two things I'm going to submit it (hopefully by the end of May). I'll attach:
- the scanned title page of my passport
- the scanned kielitodistus
- the palkkatodistus (scanned if on paper, I have no idea in what form I'm going to get it)
- account statements from my bank account for the past six months

One of parts that I found the hardest to fill in the application was the question whether I've been outside of Finland, when, where and for what reason. After I spent several days digging in electronic boarding passes, photos, emails and what not I managed to come up with the nearly exhaustive list of 50 travels.

Does checking your status affects your application?

Great news! What was is queue number? Would you please also update us if you have other contacts from Migri?
They have asked me for a new payslips, a travel update and apart from that a question about my identity

1.5 years B permit (student), 4 years A permit (marriage). Student time wasn’t counted for some reason. I asked why but they haven’t answered.
Check the period of residence calculation method again, there is a line that explains the B time is only calculated in full year. Meaning if you had 1.5 year of B -> 0.75 year in period of residence, it will be rounded down and excluded.
Can you point where does it say that? I could not find such rule.
I tried to look up for it but couldnt find either. But I remember reading that from the site before. their method for calculating period of residency for B isn’t that straightforward as 1/2 that I am sure

Yuhuuuuu I have received a positive decision today!

Below is the timeline:

Applied and proved id on 27.11.20
Went into second stage 3.05.21
Asked for extra docs 4.05.21 (payslips, travel info, some id clarification info, but it was an error from their side)
A decision came today 6.05.21

So all in all it took 5 months, the queue number today morning was 2720.

I came from Russia in 2013 as a student and started working since 2018, not married.

I wish good luck to everyone waiting, sooner or later you will get it! Cheers! 🍾

Why we don't get frequent updates on citizenship applications on customer bulletin news on migri website?

I assume because there is no major updates or non at all? Plus they don't consider citizenship application urgent at all

For everyone’s information, if you are below 30, you have to do the army duty or civil service unless you have a medical report which says you are incapable of doing army duty. I am below 30 and army already contacted me :D . I am planning to do civil service (347 days). Wish me luck!

Note: You can only get passport if you are still below 28. And that passport will only be valid until the end of the year of which you turn 28. After that you have to sort out army duty. Otherwise you cannot get passport and your citizenship may be cancelled.

Thank you dude for the info! maaan LOL at least they should have given you few days to celebrate being Finnish national before they contact you 🤣 I think I need to prepare myself then for one of them, civil service sounds more ethical and less restricted but man 347 days is so long :'(
Good luck anyway 👌👌
