Have any of you noticed your place in the queue going down once it was already up e.g. 2200 to 2230?
That’s normal... I moved from 225 to 430... again going down by 5 numbers a day on average. As of today it’s 336.
..........
Applied on: 05 Oct 2019
Visit: 11 Oct 2019
Country on migri list.

15months 8 days to be precise :P. But not necessarily strange, few of us from the same country are in contact who applied in Oct and Nov 2019 and are still waiting. Just hoping that our applications dont make migri to move the deadline from 16months to 18months

Also i hope the things will get better during this year for the recent applicants and therefore you might not have to wait for so long. :)

Hello everyone!
Just proved my identity at Rovaniemi Migri and the lady said to me that it might take up to 16 months for a decision.
I didn't know it was that slow considering that my permanent permit was done in 24hours.
I guess I now have to get some makkara and beers and try to make those 16 months fly some how.
I'm Brazilian living in Finland for approximately 6 years and never went abroad. Apart from going to IKEA in Sweden for a couple of hours. Been working all this time full time on a permanent contract got a Finnish wife and two kids.
Good luck all of you with your applications.

Well two out of three reasons provided by migri for delays to date are getting resolved slowly. Ofc list of countries with ID issues is not changing, but Brexit has happened and the first rush of British applications is almost over. Also COVID is another issue restricting the access of the migri staff to the offices resulting in delays and that would start to get better hopefully with the availability of vaccines.
Call it wishful thinking or positive mindset :) but I think things will start to turn around for better for the newer applicants

Getting these reasons resolved would improve the situation only if these reasons were "really" behind the bad performance of migri. Maybe it was just one of the lame reasons which they have been using in the past.

Ofc that’s a matter of trust and not reasons. We don’t know if those are “the actual reasons”, and that’s why I called it “wishful thinking”. Being skeptical is good but staying positive is better (only an individual opinion)

It took too long for you as well :/ Why some people get it too early while some too late. I wonder the people getting decision in 2 - 5 months really going through queue?

- Proved identity on 25.11.2020 in Lappeenranta
- Queue number 1760 (it moves around 20 steps a day)
- Stage 1
- country not on the list, in Finland for almost 8 years, type B (studies) 2013-2017, then from 2018 till now type A, stable work agreement
- travelled a lot during those 8 years, once exchange studies lasted for >3 months

I have a question though, as I’m aware, while you wait for citizenship, it is not recommended to travel because then if you suddenly get a a decision, your permit will instantly expire. What should I do if they suddenly grant me a permit while I’m abroad? Can I still come back somehow? What the procedure would be then?

As it's been said in the website, you need to inform Migri if you are traveling for longer than 2 weeks, so that they won't make the decision while you are abroad. See link: https://migri.fi/en/faq-finnish-citizenship
Your queue number is very interesting to me, as I applied earlier than you and my queue number is around 3400! Apparently, the queuing is very odd! Any reason why you have progressed in the queue so rapidly?
