- Proved identity on 25.11.2020 in Lappeenranta
- Queue number 1760 (it moves around 20 steps a day)
- Stage 1
- Russian, in Finland for almost 8 years, type B (studies) 2013-2017, then from 2018 till now type A, stable work agreement
- travelled a lot during those 8 years, once exchange studies lasted for >3 months

I have a question though, as I’m aware, while you wait for citizenship, it is not recommended to travel because then if you suddenly get a a decision, your permit will instantly expire. What should I do if they suddenly grant me a permit while I’m abroad? Can I still come back somehow? What the procedure would be then?
You mean grant you "citizenship", well I think in that case if you are travelling from non-EU country then they wouldn't know whether this residence permit is valid or not, as the expiry on the card is still valid. But I think EU country can check the validity 1 step ahead of expiry date in this case there can be problem.

One question, what was your queue number the first day you applied, meaning on 25.11.2020? Thanks

Hi! Thanks for your reply and sorry for settling confusion in this group. My current queue number is 3760, not 1760. When I first checked, it was 4200 or something like that, so in 2 months it moved 440 steps... but I saw earlier in the chat somebody got the decision at 1800, so indeed it doesn’t make much sense but it feels good to see it moving.

I have also tried to ask for an expedite request, my boss wrote a ref. letter, but they didn’t accept it as work travel is not considered as a good reason. Maybe somebody’s reason was good enough that they got their decision super quick?

My friend from Turkey got his decision in one year, half a year after his application moved to stage 2. They explained it so that the person who was responsible for the application had to be shifted to another department due to COVID, so his application was on hold. But they said now it is getting better, so the actual processing time for his application was around 6 months.

Hopefully we all get that message unexpectedly quick!!!

Go to the Finnish consulate for a passport maybe?

Just an update on the processing times: While migri.fi still states the time period to be 10 to 16 months. Enter Finland has changed its time estimation and now displays 7 to 18 months of processing times.

You can see it by following the link below (the time information is available at the end of the page)

The migri.fi time processing time checker says 10-12 months (it is not 16 months, at least not yet). During the last 2.5 months, the time estimate and the number of applicant have not changes. It is very interesting to see that enterfinland.fi indicates 7-16 months for citizenship application. I have no clue why. What the estimate used to be in enterfinland.fi. Anyone can explain why these two estimates are different?

They are different because Migri wants you to stay confused and never ask them about the time they would take for your application compared to any other's, simple.

The time checker on website is on 10-12 months since august 2020. The "citizenship Application" page on migri website has been on 10-16months for long time and so was enterfinland.fi timer at least until Dec 2020. Just noticed today that it changed to 7-18 months. Anyways, the last communication i had with migri over the email, they gave the usual standard answer that it will take upto 16 months. (although before that they had told me that processing on my application will start in Dec 2020, which is not true because i am still on stage 1).
All in all, yes they have all these different timers to safeguard themselves and to confuse the applicants :)

Me too... seeing enterfinland information extending the timeline is a bit bothering. Because at the time of my application the usual time period used to be 6 months. Then the changes followed went from 6 -> 10 -> 12 -> 16 and now 18.

Can I ask what is your profile? The grounds of applying and how did you come to Finland (with or without RP) and is your country from Migri's list?

My time to share the results

Proved my identity in Turku 21.10.2020
Moved into stage 2: 25.01.2021
Decision: 26.01.2021

Background info for those interested: I’m from Russia, came in 2014 as a student, got an A permit in 2018 on the basis of work (part-time cleaning job lol, so nothing “intellectual” / “serious”). Not married.

Last time I checked my place in the queue was maybe 3 days before my application moved into stage 2, and my place was 3052. I kinda had a gut feeling that I’d get my decision in January, but I’m still a bit surprised. Checked my DVV profile; status already updated.

Good luck to all!

Congratulations.. So the queue number still remained a mystery.
