Inheritance laws

Post by Gitto » Sun Oct 21, 2018 1:33 pm

Hej all

Anybody know about the possibilities of an advance of inheritance from mother to son?
Any limitations on it, and what the approx tax rate would be  ?
Thanx /Paul.

Hi,

Not sure what you mean, but here are two possible options:

If you are inheriting something, then the tax calculator is here. And FWIW, any amount is too high, especially on inheritance gathered through earned incomes (product of labour). Here's the link: https://prosentti.vero.fi/Pelalaskuri/E ... overo.aspx . At the bottom, there is the Perintöverolaskuri

If you are getting some "advance of inheritance" as you say, I am not sure of that. The quickest that I can think of is as a "gift", which is also as far as I know subject to taxes! Again as far as I remember, there was a tax-free limit, was it 6000 Eur/ year from a parent to a child. (Disclaimer: I am NOT sure of this, so you need to check this).

Hope this helps.

Hi!
The minimum amount, where gift tax is applicable, is 5000 euros.
- The sum of all gifts within a period of 3 years must be under 5000 euros to avoid paying gift tax.
