I have applied in June, that's why I was a bit surprised.

Hi guys! Yesterday me, my wife and daughter got the citizenship! Ohh, finally. It was a bit nervous 7-month process, during which we got two requests for supplementary info (mostly related to income clarifications during my student years here).

I wish all of you who is still waiting good luck and patience!.. You'll surely be Suomen kansalaiset, sooner or later! :beer_yum:

Here's my timeline:
7.2.2019 Application/processing fee.
8.2.2019 Proved identity at Migri.
20.6.2019 1st request for supplementary info.
19.7.2019 2nd request for supplementary info.
12.9.2019 Positive desicion.

P.S. Lived in Finland for 6 years, first three years as a student (B-permit). Have been working since. I'm from Eastern Europe, non-EU.

Congratulations. I applied on 6th February, proved my identity on 7th February. Still my application is at first stage.
I also have lived in Finland for 6 years. 2 years on B and 4 years on A permit.

Hoping to get the decision soon :)

Hello guys,

I’ve been reading all your posts here while waiting for my decision to come.

So, I applied for citizenship 03.07.19 and I’ve got my positive decision today, 17.09.19.

Moved to Finland as a student, learnt the language and now working. Moved here in 2014.

Good luck everyone.

It is so frustrating. Even the migri.fi calculator is saying that your application is taking longer than expected.
Migri has very less work force that is why there are delays in the applications.
It is so unfortunate, but we can do nothing but wait patiently. (I am talking like migri personnel)
i have also applied in dec 27,2018 but my application is also in pending now i called 2 months they said its waiting to process , have you got any update recently ?

Here is one more insane positive case here. :D We are also totally surprised.
05.07.2019 You have proved your identity and a diary number has been created for your application.
09.07.2019 You have sent additional information for the application. We have received it.
09.07.2019 You have sent additional information for the application. We have received it.
09.07.2019 You have sent additional information for the application. We have received it.
29.08.2019 You have sent additional information for the application. We have received it.
18.09.2019 A decision has been made on your application.
18.09.2019 The decision can be read on your user account.
18.09.2019 The processing of your application has started.
It appeared much quicker then we expected. Applicant is my husband. My guess is that he was already checked during processing of my application one year ago. That time my application took 5 months and 1 week.
Proved identity in Rovaniemi. Living in Finland since 2010.

Turku but it doesn’t really matter where you apply cause all the applications are sent to Helsinki.

I have to give myself some explanation :D like for supermies, even migri time calculator now tells me:
The processing of your application is taking longer than expected. The processing time can be longer for example if further documents are needed for the application.

In almost every other case it does matter where you have applied. Usually in Helsinki there is congestion for applications. The service point in the respective areas decided the applications. Even though Migri tells us otherwise. I have came to know/understand through observation/experience.

well for me its wait wait wait ...n wait... :)

Some news from Migri website:

Delays in the processing of citizenship applications in October
30.9.2019 10.38
Unfortunately there will be delays in the processing of citizenship applications in October. The Finnish Immigration Service is piloting the partial automation of the processing of citizenship applications, and this is causing some delay.

The goal of the agency is that routine tasks, such as the various register checks, could in the future be performed automatically. In this way, the employees of the agency could focus on the more complex cases that require investigation.

We apologise for the delays.
