Katsastus question

Post by Honest » Fri Jan 25, 2019 1:53 am

What happens if I don't go for the anual inspection during the specified time?

e.g katsatus is from 1.5 - 15.06. But what if i am out of country and can't do it during that time.? What if I go 1-2 months after the dead line? Of course nobody would be drivng the car. it will be just standing.

The car will just be checked and if ok you'll get the clearance till the next official time.

It's legal to drive an uninspected car to the inspection. If caught in other type of use, you may get a fine and the register plates taken away.

I think that is correct. Also be aware that you must not drive the car when you return (before you get it inspected) and you need to have an appointment before you drive the car to the inspection. I actually got stopped by the police last year when driving a car to get it inspected, but it was OK because I had an inspection appointment.

Oh, one other thing is where will the car be standing while you are away? I don't know the legal situation if it is parked on the public road after the Katsastus expires so you should check on that.
