Renewing residence permit later than three months in advance

Post by LudvigBorga » Mon Sep 09, 2019 2:06 am

My first residence permit (family ties, spouse) expires in late December. I know that the Migri website says three months is roughly when you should apply, but it looks like the first open date that works with my schedule is in mid-October, roughly two months before my permit expires. Does anyone know if processing of extensions is ever any quicker than the long wait for your first permit? I know they say you can stay until they make a decision regardless, but I'm a worrywart, so here I am. For what it's worth, I have already paid the fee and filled in my application online.

You should submit it anyway. Considering current situation in migri where they have very less workforce to decide the decisions.

You can drop by there without an appointment. You just have to prepare yourself for the long waiting time.
