Hi guys, I'm planning to apply for citizenship soon and I have a question regarding my income I hope someone can answer. According to Migri website, I have to clarify all of my sources of income since I moved to Finland. I don't have any problem getting my past payslips from work. However, there was a time (around 1 year) I went back to study and received some money from Kela (opintotuki and asumistuki). It has been quite long ago and unfortunately I couldn't find any papers or digital copies of the decision/statement of payment from Kela. So, is it mandatory that I somehow must provide these papers or I just have to mention about those received benefits and Migri could double check with Vero?

Kela should have a record of what was given to you. You may want to contact Kela and ask them to send you some sort of proof.

The money is also shown on final tax returns.

By reading, for example, the paper application form you would have seen: "Saamiini Kansaneläkelaitoksen (KELA:n) myöntämiin etuuksiin. Ilmoita alla etuuslaji. Maahanmuuttovirasto saa tiedot etuuden myöntäjältä."

You do not need to provide any docs for Kela. The email from migri which i received for updating my application states "Migrationsverket får uppgifter om de bidrag och förmåner som Folkpensionsanstalten (FPA) har beviljat dig. Du behöver inte skicka in kopior av FPA:s beslut till Migrationsverket."

My friend has an application that appears to be stuck in the processing stage. My guess is that citizenship applications are extremely low priority and are probably on hold during this corona situation.

For how long has it been stuck there?

Not my application so I dont know exactly but it went into processing shortly before the corona restrictions and nothing has changed. It has at least been more than a month.

Pure speculation though. Maybe they are still working on them just more slowly. They don’t tell us much so we have to try to infer what we can with little data.

Hi guys,

While I was waiting I checked different forums regarding decisions.

My timeline is:
19/12/2019 Proved my identity
15/04/2020 Started processing and decision

I was quite surprised that they did not ask about the trips during these 4 months, but I guess they assumed that I don't travel now.

Good luck!

I moved at the beginning of 2015. I had 1.5 years with a B permit and 3.6 with A permit when I applied. Besides the required documents, I provided them a copy of the savings account to show that I intend to get a house loan in Finland.

I have also a feeling if you provide all the required documents with your application (so it does not require a person to check everything carefully) it goes to this new automatic queue where a computer checks your documents first, they implemented this way from August. My friends got citizenship within 2 months during the summer 2019.
