Hello all,
I was hoping to get some insight on my issue. Here it goes:
I recently got a parcel delivered from India to Finland via DHL. There were some prescription drugs, with prescription inside, which I assumed, I can get in bulk, so that I can avoid going out during the coronavirus scare. Turns out the medicine was prohibited (outside of EEA), I wasn't aware of it, so the customs discarded the medicine and delivered the rest of the package to me.
Today, I get a document from Tulli saying I have to go a criminal hearing because, even though I was unaware of the illegality of the medicine imported to Finland, it was procedure and I had attend the hearing. They also said it will be a fine, based on my income.
Has someone experienced something like this before? My questions are:
1) What would be the fine I have to pay? I am a student here and don't have any income.
2) How would this affect my future employability? I am worried, although the customs official said it is not serious and I don't have to worry.
3) What would be the fee for a legal counsel?
I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you!

Finnish daily fines depend on income. With no income it's 6€ per daily fine.confused_e wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 1:06 pmHas someone experienced something like this before? My questions are:

It is probably not worth the effort.3) What would be the fee for a legal counsel?
- You are guilty.
- There will be a fine based on the drug and the amount.
- Not knowing is no valid excuse.
A lawyer can not do much for you in such a case. (unless the drug was not on the list and Tulli made a mistake)
As they said; it is not serious, don't worry.
