Hmmm.....I don't know, I didn't read each one of them for content. Under the circumstances though, I don't think I could be bothered to announce a job position in MOL if I had no intention of filling that position. :P

I check mol daily and its common that different "rental worker" businesses have similar places open in same area in same time. Somehow i dont believe its coindicence...
Also problem is that in some goverment places you have to announce job place even if worker is de facto already selected.

So the county/housing coop/etc. called to all rent-a-workers and asked someone to shovel the snow... one was more active to in their quest for laborers than the other. Good job for the student that is not sleepy at the morning, not so good for the worker, who has to wage the paper war before/during/after the job. And for the people thinking that that worker should work, not moan about the paperwork: there is high possibility that doing few hours of work, makes it impossible to get unemployment or social money during the time those papers are processed... which might take time (weeks or even months).

indeed there is always a job, as long as you have a value for the employer.

That is absolutely true! However, it's also true that if you don't speak the native language your value to the employer plunges to nearly zero. The employer doesn't care about that "language of love" you share with that cute Finnish female.

I am 10+ years here, hard to remember how to spell/say "kitos": Finnish I see only in newspapers or on TV. At work English is 100%.

Hmm. I've been here almost 7 years, my workplace language is 100% English, my home language is English, my wife's family and my friends all speak fluent English (half of my friends are non-Finns so it's the common language) and really, I have no reason to learn it whatsoever. I voluntarily go to courses every few years, sure, but that's more to meet new people than to learn the language - however, and maybe I'm just being arrogant here, I really can't understand how somebody can live and exist here for such a long time and not even passively pick up useable language. To me, that seems unbelieveably rude and arrogant when you're living in another country. I'm not trying to attack you, honestly, but I really can't understand how you could fail to pick up something to blisteringly simple as "kiitos". Do you not interact with Finns in social situations? Not go to the shops, the hairdresser, the pub? Sure, they can usually all speak English, but to me that's not the point. You're in their country, not the other way round... it's the very least piece of politeness you could muster. Again, sorry for seeming to attack; I have a couple of friends like you who've lived here for more than a decade and speak absolutely nothing of the local language (some even with children who were born here and are now in their teens), and also with them I'm not so much angry as just genuinely at a loss as to how such a thing is even possible :ohno:

I just don't have time and effort to learn the language. If company will fire me, yes, I'll go to learn it, but so far, I am fully discharged at work.
