Good evening,

What do you think of the company SOL (cleaning). What is the average monthly net salary?

As a worker does it matter whatever cleaning company it is? if you are not going to invest on it? All companies in Finland are registered and have obligation to pay you salary for worked hours be it SOL or some :tmi that hires you.

afaik, SOL doesn't easily hire anyone who doesn't speak Finnish, the average hourly rates are 9-11 euros also depending on the place of residence.
Can I ask How does the residence place affect one's salary?

Mostly company here follow collective agreements that bind industries and services to pay scales. The pay scales are common indicators of what to expect.

I googled collective agreement for cleaning in finland
https://www.google.fi/?ion=1&espv=2#q=c ... in+finland

A very well know Union has the duty to help produce The collective agreements
https://www.pam.fi/en/work/collective-agreement.html

You can find pay scales in the collective agreements

But as a note , cleaning is not just cleaning.
Realestate sevices can be cleaning
Industrial cleaning
Private sector cleaning.

It depends what SOL makes you do, there could be additional pay adjustments to add.

The working language at SOL on the Silja Line, is ENGLISH. Fill in an application form online, and then apply directly to the SOL manager at the Terminal.

SOL is not a good company to work as an employer, in my opinion. I worked there for some time, cleaning in a hotel. All the employees there were complaining about the company. Yes, they paid the salary regularly. But, on the other hand..
There are some practical examples of what happened to me while working in SOL:
I had a huge quantity of big rooms to clean every single day, alone, and SOL wanted that each room was cleaned in 20 minutes maximum.. No matter if I had 4 extra beds to make in the room, or if the room was completely messy...
I did not receive any training from SOL before starting the work.
SOL gave me my free days during weekdays and almost never in weekends...
SOL did not gave me right information about what to do if I get sick, for example, they did not explain my rights to go see a work doctor.
SOLdefinitely don't like that workers get sick. They may deny paying health costs if the worker is in notice period, as this happened to 2 of my colleagues.
SOL did not respect people as employers. For me, it was a trap working there. 0
SOLtried to take advantage of foreigners that do not know about the existence of the union, for example, not telling them their rights.
...
Definitely not nice. Please, search other company and do never think about working in SOL.

And the wage is crap. At my former employer (not SOL), but we used SOL to clean. Those people were not even getting 10 Euros an hour. But that was almost three years ago. Maybe they have raised the income. But, I don't think so. And none of them were English speakers. The cleaners I spoke to were all foreigners. Not a single Finnish person, or a native English speaker. So they all spoke somewhat some conversational Finnish, but no English. Only the supervisors were Finnish.

I think it is a crap company. I think they abuse the system, the workers, etc. And they were crap cleaners. But considering they were making so little money, I never blamed them for being terrible at their job. When they first won the contract, they came in and acted all professional, cleaning so nicely etc. But that didn't last

I worked for SOL on Silja line. One ship is Finnish registered, the other Swedish registered, but the working language is definitely English.

Yes, a few years ago the salary was just under 10e an hour, but a pay rise had just been negotiated, to be implemented over a set period.

Yes, the work is fast paced and you train 'on the job'. On the ships you have 20 cabins to clean in 5 hours or you may be set to work on the 'public side'.

The Manager/Supervisors have regular meetings with the Housekeeping department and all areas are discussed. There is daily check up by the same department, so if something is not up to scratch, then it's remedied before passengers board.

There wasn't an opportunity to work weekends as students covered those days, which was a little unfair as Sunday was double time pay.

Unfortunately I developed physical problems due to the work. SOL were very good in getting me to a specialist. The specialist told me that he had worked on the Viking Line when he was a Medical student and that I was too old to be doing that kind of work.

I can only say good things about my ex-colleagues, supervisors and manager, they were a great crew to work with.
