Finnish Workforce

Post by EricBoss » Tue Oct 30, 2018 8:05 pm

What are the thoughts of the Finnish workforce or I guess just your average 'joe' from Finland on immigrating to work in the US or Canada? I've found various medical practitioners even dentists don't have much interest in moving out of Western Europe due to good pay. I heard most Finnish people don't even get any payday loans. In Vancouver we do :)

Is that a popular thought down there? I know sometimes additional workforce (Foreign or Local) isn't required like in these case studies:

1. 66% Revenue Growth Without Adding Staff
2. Leading the Millennial Workforce

I've noticed as someone from Canada, less Europeans are coming here to work let alone live here than before. Heck you have more bass guitarists coming here on travel visas then anything. Why not get educated dentists or even real estate buyers. We need people

Why move from a country with a working social security system, free healthcare, excellent & free education to Trump country??

@wolf80 - haha! Well I wasn't just talking about the politics or US I mean Canada seems to be quite similar. The free education part is awesome by the way. I'm not sure if I can say that about here. Post secondary (After High School) definitely costs a lot here as well. Student loans help but not really.

What is there for the "average joe" to move for? Hard to get in and stay without special skills, working class jobs probably don't result in markedly better quality of living, in order to move anywhere you'd have to have some money to begin with,...

AFAIK there hasn't been immigration waves from Europe to North America in quite a few decades.

If you're a US native, it's far easier to find work in the US, than as a foreigner in Finland. No need to worry about learning a whole new language and going through inefficient teaching channels for it, as well not having to deal with KELA/TE.. as such things no longer exist in the US. If you have no reason to leave the US, do not leave.
