Finnish classes: an observation

Post by deojuvame » Mon Sep 08, 2003 7:52 pm

I just came back from the first class of my latest round of "Beginner's Finnish", and felt instantly at home! This is because everyone except THREE people in that class have taken finnish courses before!

I thought it was hilarious that taking introductory courses repeatedly seems to be the norm rather than the exception- and it also makes me more comfortable  It seems like everyone knows their alphabet and basic words like the back of their hands, but when it comes to that horrid section with the 17 verb tenses or whatever, people start crapping out like crazy.

Maybe they should have more variations in class levels, like "Introduction to Finnish" and then another "Introduction to Finnish: The sequel" class after that for proper suffixes

mention it to the teacher next time...you never know...she might split the class up a bit with more advance students helping those that are falling behind (or crapping out like crazy..)

you have nothing to loose....
How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

I’d like to take an introductory course in Finnish some time.
