skateboarding / maps

Post by skateworm » Mon Feb 13, 2006 1:05 am

hello one & all,
i heard it thru the grapevine - skateboarders in Finland have put together maps to assist with finding, sharing, & reconnaissance of hot skate spots.
is this true? can someone send me a link where i might access and view these maps?
many thanks!

The Helsinki parks are listed at

http://nuoriso.hel.fi/mitaVoitTehdaJaMi ... paikat.php

If you go to any library you can get the 'Ulkoilukartta' map. It shows all the skateparks, cycle paths, ski tracks etc.

If you want any more specific info, I suggest signing up on nolla.net (Finnish). I don't know about unofficial places but there's always a bunch of skaters by the Mannerheim statue opposite the new Kamppi centre.

thankyou robert simpson!
i can't read the language - but the great thing about maps & GIS - everybody can understand the graphics.
i like the link you provided & find it very informative.
in the next few years everything in the world will get better due to processing power & applications for GIS.
