Not suprised.
Who would pick a player that has missed 25 shots in total to take a penalty?

Do you think Rooney should have been red-carded for stepping on the Carvalho's groin? Was that intentional?

The Times doesn't waste any time in really blasting Rooney:

I think Elizondo did a good job calling the match. England did a great job playing short-handed.

That was never worth a red card, as he didnt seem to do it on purpose.

But England would have lost vs. France anyway, so it doesnt really matter
Here in Finland, I have done everything I can to blend-in with the Finns, I've changed my hair color, wore differnet clothes, got different

rooney does show class in these comments though.

His interpretation of the situation does make sense.

It looked really aggressive to me, certainly intentional - though WHY anyone would do that in front of the ref beats me. Of course he denies it, they all do: like Thierry Henry denied diving in the game against Spain. The Rooney red card surprised me, but even with a yellow card I'm not sure he would have survived the match and certainly not the next one. What really amazes me, is the number of second chances this spoilt kid seems to be given.... He just doesn't seem to be making much progress "mentally".... how long can his supporters keep up the "he's just a kid" "golden boy" "hormones" b******t.

I watch under 15s football several times a week.... most of them are not as stupid as Rooney. It doesn't take long for them to figure out what being a teamplayer really means.

If the George Best case can be extrapolated here, until Rooney dies,
although they'll probably be providing him with excuses then, too.

Big difference is that George Best was always well disciplined when on the pitch, in fact when he was Rooneys age he also behaved well off the pitch.
(Thanks to the guiding hand of Mat Busby).

It was when his career was ending, and later, that GB screwed up and hit the booze. Rooney seems to just have problem with discipline: full stop.
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

He'll wise up sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Good luck with that...
But what shall it profit a people if they satisfy all material desires, but leave for their children nothing, only a wasteland.
