Hi, everybody !
My name is Ana Carla, I am from Brazil and I would like to know that if I move to Turku I can find a job as a Portuguese or English teacher there.
I have a degree so I can teach both languages, although I know that it's not so simple to get a job abroad with a foreigner degree.
I would also like to know if it's too difficult to get any other job there. And how about the language, does it really take a long time to be learnt?
As a foreigner, can I study at a university to learn the language?
I hope anyone can help me with some information about this city.
How can I get a job in Turku?
Hi!
First of all, about your qualifications. Provided you wish to teach in the public sector (ie exluding the possible private language schools), you most probably need to have your degree recognised. See

As for other jobs... well, knowing Finnish does help a lot. It is not quite impossible to find a job without Finnish skills, but almost so... and as for how long it takes to become at least somewhat fluent in Finnish - that's a tough one. Depends on your motivation & language learning skills
But if you study hard maybe 2-3 years (an optimistic guess)
The universities do not offer degree-leading courses for beginners in the Finnish language. There may be some individual courses in the open university, or at the university language centres...
That's the short version
