Lost&Found I would be hardpressed to classify as being a gay bar
anymore. People won't look at you weirdly, but it's far from being the gay
bar it used to be and is more heterosexual with a twinge of GBLT.
A postage stamp-size dance floor to boot. Pro? It's open way late.
DTM is more glam, drag queens/kings, flamers wall to wall.
Good coffeeshop if you don't want to go to the bar.
Fairytale seems to not have made it to the list.
I've never been in it and it's off the beaten path, but it is near the following joint for bears:
Bear Park Cafe, which is only open in the summers, from May to September.
Eerikinkatu used to have a number of gay bars, so it might be a good place to go to go barhopping:
Bar Stuff: Eerikinkatu 14
Con Hombres: Eerikinkatu 27
Saunabar: also at Eerikinkatu 27
There used to be a couple more between these, but I can't find the
contact info for them; don't know if they're around then either.
And one place bi women used to go:
Nalle Pub, Kaarlenkatu 3—5
I'm not sure how GBLT it is anymore; it's also located near the Bear Park
Cafe and Fairytale

All the info about those places is still valid. Except for Hombre. If I'm not mistaking the address it transformed into Bar Stuff now. It's a normal gay bar, I'd say. Many still prefer Room but Stuff has got it's regulars as well.DutchMiracle1982 wrote:I see this is an old topic, but what is the current situation in Finland regarding gay-night-life? I am a gay, living in The Netherlands and I will maybe visit Finland the coming year, so I am curious!
If I'm allowed to express my own opinion I wouldn't recommend Lost&Found - at least to me it felt being more drunk than gay. DTM is definitely a must. I'd say the crowd is more glamourous on Fridays (watch for "queens" ) but on Saturdays.. well... feels more laid back I'd say.
Hercules is nice as well, indeed. Just somewhat different.
Ah, speaking of gay life in Helsinki and Netherlands. I remember my frined and I met a guy at DTM who happened to be visiting from Netherlands. After the club closed we left together. My friend and I were going to catch a night bus and we offered to navigate the guy to his hotel. At first he agreed but then he found out he's got no cash fo the bus so he changed his mind to a taxi. But I happend to have few extra coins so I offered those to him for the bus. Then that dialogue took place:
- Have you guys taken anything tonight?
- Taken anything? What do you mean?
- Well, something besides alcohol...
- Oh! Yeah, my friend had Fanta but I only drank alcohol.
- No, I mean taken... some substance, you know..
- Ah! I see. No, we haven't. Why?
- Well... You are so friendly.
I'd say you're allowed tochickensexer wrote:If I'm allowed to express my own opinion I wouldn't recommend Lost&Found - at least to me it felt being more drunk than gay.
And the glam hits a new high during Pride Week.chickensexer wrote:DTM is definitely a must. I'd say the crowd is more glamourous on Fridays (watch for "queens" ) but on Saturdays.. well... feels more laid back I'd say.

Well, nice stories from the nordic
I heard several stories about gay bars in the Nordic. What I noticed, was that the gay-bars public in the Nordic may be characterized by relatively elderly gay men. Is this thrue? When I look at Holland, the guests of gay bars varies between 18 en 50 years old, with relatively many young men. So, who wants to try to give me an answer
Greetz from Holland,

Yes in Nordic counties, it's a strange biological fact, that people don't realise they're gay, until they're in their mid-forties.
