Planning to move to Espoo/Helsinki - work

Post by Mies Belgiasta » Wed Feb 07, 2007 4:48 pm

Well, I'll introduce myself first and ask questions later. Seems more appropriate to me

My name is David, I'm a 23 years old guy from Belgium who will graduate in June this year. When I do graduate (he he...) I'll have my bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Information Technology).

Now the question is, will it be hard to find a job in IT in Finland as a foreigner?
I'm a graduate coming right out of school with no work experience (besides the 3 months I will work as JAVA programmer for my school-workpractice).
On top of that I can hardly understand Finnish, only a bit what I've learned from my girlfriend and textbooks.

I'll be staying in Espoo or Helsinki, since my girlfriend is from Espoo :)

Is there anybody with experience in this who can give me a answer or solution? Or Belgians who came here too study/work.

Thanks in advance,

David

I was going to say its pretty difficult, but check this other recent thread if you haven't already: they are looking for junior developers at F-Secure, a pretty well known Finnish anti-virus company: bb/viewtopic.php?t=19560

I kind of thought it would be.

I checked the thread and it's for people who have already 1 year experience or graphical experience.

I think I'm in for a hard time looking ! Thanks for the reply though ! :)
