Where to watch game 2 in the Swedish hockey-final on friday?

Post by hyvääroutsi » Tue Apr 03, 2007 11:49 pm

Hello everyone! Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but hopefully someone will be able to help me. Will be visiting Helsinki during the holiday, and missing out on this game (fri 6/4) is not an option =)

Does anyone know any place (sportsbar etc) that usually broadcast games from Elitserien, or is there a total neglection of swedish hockey among the Finns? I´m not surprised if this is the case, thinking of all the misery Sweden is responsible for laying on the Finnish people during the last years...

Anyway, praying someone can help me!

Best Regards//Hannes, Sweden

Well, is it on canal+ sport or something like that? They might do a filler somewhere, as the bronze game is on Thursday and the first final on Saturday... se we have more important things in our minds right now 8)

It's on canal+ hannes, so it should be on somewhere. Most bars have it, as they also have rights to British football and SM-liiga.

I don't live in Helsinki so I can't help with specific bars, unfortunately.

Finns were not amused when this cartoon appeared in your Afton Bladet..
Finns are not so argogant and did not make similar jokes about Swedish Hockey after they put 4 past Sweden in the Globen.
At the 1995 World championships Finland won a gold medal, beating Sweden in the final by four goals to one in Stockholm.

If you do find a bar showing the match I advise that you speak English.

Best bet is probably the Chelsea Sports bar behind the Holiday Inn near the railway station. It is a soccer pub and not much soccer on Fridays.

Or the "Paino Bar" = Press Bar..in the Sanomat House (big glass tower newspaper office...it has a bar on ground floor and a few Swedish reporters work for the papers.) ...that is just across the road from THe Chelsea Pub.

I hope Linköping win... :D

I always thought Paino Baari was the 'Weight Bar' and not the 'Press Bar'..

Do you know which is right and why?

From my dictionary.
Paino has several meanings
heaviness
load
press
stressed
weight (punnus)
weight

From phoning them and asking..

"As we are located in the Helsinki Sanomat Newspaper Building it is a play on words..could be "The Press (reporters) Bar"..Or "Bar for the Stressed"...take your choice.!"

By the way Modo beat Linköping to become Swedish champions.

Ice hockey
Having fallen 2-1 behind to Linköping in the best of seven series, Modo stepped up a gear to win three matches in succession and take the title.

On Sunday, 10,000 of Örnsköldsvik's 25,000 inhabitants crammed into the town square to celebrate their heroes after local club Modo won the Swedish Ice Hockey championship for the first time since 1979.

Having seen their club lose three finals since the victory almost three decades ago, Saturday's win offered long-awaited relief for the jubilant fans in red, white and black.

In Finnish you press books, not print books, hence 'printing press' is a 'book press' or a 'newspaper press'; so its press(ure) bar
