Finnish/Icelandic family looking for a babysitter!

Post by Jukka Suomi » Fri Apr 20, 2007 7:35 am

Hello,
We are Finnish/Icelandic family looking for a babysitter who could look after our two boys (1 year and 3 years old) from now til the end of May. It would be five days a week, seven hours a day. (09:00 to 16:00)
Babysitter has to speak Finnish or Icelandic and some English.
We live in Soukka, Espoo.

1) Fulltime babysitter might be a problem ( as there could be regulations in doing that)
2) Biggest problem: Why would they work for you instead of Päivakoti/PerhePaivakoti7Private Daycare or if they already speak Finnish and Icelandish/English?
3) You have posted this to an Mainly English Speaking Forum where people looking for jobs dont speak Finnish..and rarely if at all Icelandish.
Try other forums. Also Ask your local chapter of lasten Mannerheimentie Ry.
Also, try for Au pair here if you dont mind English speaking ones.

Aye, the foreigners these days are quickly assimilated - although some seem todo it in-extremis. The "can't do" attitude is a keystone of the Finnish psyche.
