Tour de France - streaming video?

Post by smoo » Sun Jul 08, 2007 3:46 pm

I've been trying to watch the tour using the "versus" live video streaming link accessed from this page. Unfortunately it's unwatchable due to near constant freezing, both on WMP and RealPlayer. I don't know much about this sort of stuff - is the problem likely to be with the link or with my software/hardware/connection? I'm using ADSL at about 416Kb/s (according to an online bandwith test).

I missed it completely today (MIL's birthday) but i think it's live on Eurosport everyday anyway, there's also a highlights package at 11pm tonight although they will both be in Finnish unfortunately, still might learn some lingo. :D
You could try here, http://www.myp2p.eu/Other.htm, (scroll down) they seem to have it, i'll try tomorrow and see how both my link and your link work.
You could also go here http://www.uknova.com/wsgi/index, i'll be 'visiting' daily as UK C4 coverage is good.

I don't have cable or anything at the moment so no Eurosport unfortunately, but this P2P thing looks like its the way to go, thanks!

I think my problem with the link I gave is that my connection is only 512kb/s and it's optimised for about 1Mb/s. Spent half the day fiddling blindly with the advanced settings on various media players, very frustrating. Theoretically the PerfectPlay/LivePause feature on RealPlayer should let you buffer as much as you want to compensate for a slow connection (at the expense of a big delay) but I couldn't get the damn thing to work.

I don't think it's on 'cable', I thought Eurosport was just on the analogue signal like MTV? ie. i can't watch it when the digi tv is on but when i switch to analogue i get those two and bbcworld etc.

I don't quite understand all the systems, my flatscreen has analogue set up and a digital button which gives me JIM tv, YLE Teema etc. But i also have a digibox (no subscription) which offers me a few more channels. Needless to say i normally miss everything 'cos i don't know which button to press.

In an attempt to sound like i know what i'm talking about :D turn the buffering to 30 secs. Sorry can't really offer any more tech advice as I can probably say more in Finnish than i can in computer speak

Ramble over, good luck watching tomorrow.
