what do I need to prepare for päiväkoti

I am sending my little girl to päiväkoti next week and I am very excited about it , I think that I will be staying with her for the first morning at least to watch how she reacts.

Here is the thing. I saw when we went to check the päiväkoti that every kid has their own cloth cell or something like that, but I didn't catch quite a clear picture, so what should I bring with me for her? clothes? shoes? how many sets of clothes? what kinds of clothes for summer time? is there a list for the package? Are there anything else that I should consider about?

A regular paivakoti:
You need a bag for your kids..Reppu.
Shoes - 1 pair extra
2 pairs of extra set of clothes in case they playing in the sand gets the old one dirty - summer clothes are basically tops and optinal pants / housut and that too no heavy ones..A light jacket to protect from wind( But light enuff for lettin heat thro) and jean like pants to withstand the heat..and sand..
Extra set of tutti/pacifier and holder if your kids uses it..
Rain shirt and rain overall in case for rainy days
Definitely a Hat or 2 for the heat protection
Sun screen for lips, face and body
water bottle /sipper for hot days outside
diapers..ask them if they will provide..mostly you might need to provide..and during summer, the easy-ups are better than pant like diapers ..
and same goes for food/milk..bottled food /Milk or nan ..depending on how old your Daughter is..
gloves if you want her to play in the sand with them..

one more thing about gloves: regular cotton ones and a waterproof ones when they are playing outside on a rainy day..

Yes What Hank meant is to Write your daughter's name on each and every thing that she wears or uses.. Its normal for All the kids to ahve similar/same items as you will find during your shopping that the choices are very limited..

Also you may want to pack one small favorite toy with her, in case she gets homesick. At my daughter's daycare they also had us take a photograph of all of us (our family) that is kept with her things and she can look at it if she gets homesick. It helped my daughter a lot in the beginning, she used hold the photo before she went to sleep, and point at us in it and laugh... or so they told me. How old is your daughter?

Now I understand why every single item from 'name it' store has soooo long tag with name line on it and yes, it feels like that almost all the kids that I have seen in autum or winter wear the same outfit.

It really is a goog idea to take a family picture with her though I doubt if she is really gonna miss me . My little one is 13 monthes old now, I had the option to have her stayed at home a bit longer, but then I decided to take her to päiväkoti, the hoitaja will sing, read books and play with them, so much more than I can offer at this moment. I started my work couple of weeks ago, she seems doing just fine without me. I mean the first morning when I left to work and she stayed home with mummu, she didn't cry or sad or anything, just waved bye bye and went back to play. I was quite sad because after what we have shared over a year, she didn't miss me at all.

I try to think of this way too, that I have done such a good job, she is very confident, bright, secure and brave.

Now, I am sort of scared, what if, I mean just for once, accidently pick up the wrong kid. Man, can't live with myself then.

She'll be fine. There may be a few tears the first week, and then in a month or two, she'll be upset when she has to leave her friends to go home. It will be great for her confidence, development, and being socialized. Not to mention her immune system, though it may not seem like it the first year.

And, you may want to leave a spare set of clothes there, occasionally, no matter how potty-trained, there may be the occasional accident, and wearing borrowed paivakoti clothes may make her more self conscious about her little mishap. Also, don't forget slippers, or indoor shoes.

For the fall, and then winter, I guess you will become familiar with the rain gear Ruka? I believe, and the haloris and ville taki.

I wish you the best. I don't teach paivakoti, but first class, my own little students will be starting their first day of school in about a month, and there will be tears and accidents I'm sure as well. Treasure this time, though, before you know it, it will be braces and Lordi concerts....

ok, quick update,

The most common used items in summer are:

• a pair of jeans which used for sand filed playing.

(or sports trousers for older kids, they will change it by themselves when it is time to play out and change it back later on).

• rain coat and trousers

• light jacket for cold days

• diaper

• tutti and holder

• spare set of clothes

• summer hat

• baby’s own milk if allergic to normal cow milk

There are 4 kindergartens open in July in our town for each area. So there are 22 kids in my daughters group at the moment. She is the youngest, The second youngest is about 2 years old. So mostly there is a hoitaja watching my little one all the time, feed her, make her sleep, watch her closely in the play yard. That I feel very thankful. However, because she is so young, she may not find fun or feel comfort being around all those big kids maybe some of them had given her hard time.

I am saying those because the first one and half week she was all happy to go in the morning, but then she started to cry every morning and didn’t let me go. I fell awful when I walk out and can still hear her crying through the window.

Good part is, she had learned a lot new things and much independent now. When kindergarten opens normally in Augusts, she will be in a group of her age, I am sure she will have more fun.
