(U.S.) absentee ballot

Post by Gypsy » Wed Jun 04, 2003 11:32 pm

Can anyone describe to me the process of registering to vote while living abroad in my U.S. local, state and national elections? Do I apply separately for each of these type elections or just once for all? Do I reapply each year or do I just apply for an "absentee" status? Is this somthing that I take care of now before I move to .fi or after I get there through the embasy?

any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

My home state of Maryland had a recent election in November. I had to goto my state's own website and download these forms. I printed them out and mailed them home. Quite easy.

I was told that if I sent them to the U.S. Embassy, they would send them home for me and save me on the expensive stamp. Well I called the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki and they weren't aware of any such thing.

Gypsy: The Town Clerk of my native town in Massachusetts informed me that U.S. citizens residing overseas can only vote in national elections, not state or local ones. The exception is if an individual or individual's spouse is serving in the military.

Well, as it is a direct link off the US Embassy site in Helsinki, it hardly required any "knowing" to find it out.

I think Hank should consider his own search technology, that covers everything in a 3 dimensional virtual world.
He can call it: HANKSTER
(then each dimension will be able to search each layer 5 fold)...nothing will be left untouched. :)

Dont laugh, I have read and see (witnessed first hand) very odd business plans for companies in Silicon Valley that didn't even state what they made, and got Venture capital of over 10 - 30 million dollars.
