Exactly; there you have the problem in a nutshell. The journey is a trade-off between the time it takes and the amount of driving you have to do. Short ferries and long driving takes half the time of long ferries and short driving. Driving is also cheaper than the long ferries, but is more effort. Choose whichever suits you best.
