New Family in Town (Kartanonkoski, Vantaa)

Hi, I would like to introduce ourselves. My name is Tom McGowan, my wife's name is Cathy and the kids are Lizzie (9) and Dylan (5). We have just moved here from Australia. We have lived in several different places. I am Originally from Arkansas, Cathy is originally from Sydney. Lizzie was born in Canberra and Dylan was born in Watford (London).

We moved here for Cathy's work (University Equine Veterinary Hospital) and we had nothing stopping us (I am writing up my PhD). She came over for 3 days for the interview by herself and we decided why not. We have been here for 4 months now. We have found a flat in Kartanonkoski (near Jumbos), we have both taken Finnish immersion coures (and passed!! ), and the kids are attending the Vantaa International School.

We are enjoying it here and would love to meet more people. We have made a lot of new friends as the school is full of children with mixed nationality parents. Cathy has even joined the Australian Womens Book club (well will soon, at next meeting).

We do find ourselves needing some parents time but do not have a good sitter and we could use some after school help as well. If anyone knows of a possible solution, please let us know.

hello, welcome to Finland, my name is Emma..just wanted to ask if you will be interested to join an English service (anglican) every sunday, at 10:00... Sunday school also available....if yes, please inform me and i will contact the pastor and he will get intouch with you..It is always nice to have new people in the church, the church has people from Britain, USA, Australia, Africa and many other places around the world, the priest is from Ireland.

to join the congregation,,some people are Anglicans, some Lutherans,,etc etc just because its in English, so many christian foreigners like it and feel so much at home with the rest of the group..
