HI....pregnency advice pls...

I from estonia, moved here while ago. Today i just found out that im pregnent

im 23 and this my first pregnency..... im happy and scared same time...
i donno what shoud i do next, were to call and all this stuff...
can enyone tell me about ammatiliito whats that?
i have finnish social security nr but no kela kard yet
do i get some suport from kela, ammatiliito ?

btw i shoud be pregnant week or 2 weeks allready now
im happy about baby but im totaly lost

eny kind of advice is welcome

You cant be 2 weeks pregnant as this would mean you just fell pregnant. Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period. You can date it here http://www.babycentre.co.uk/tools/pregcal/ You are proberly somewhere between week 4 and 5.

Firstly you should go to Kela and apply for the card. This means you can get the healthcare cheaper, you need it for the ultrasound scans and then when you go to give birth or else you will get a huge bill.

Then you need to find your nearest neuvola and call them for an appointment. They will see you through your pregnancy and take care of your pregnancy health needs. They will give you lots of information and support and answer all your questions. Neuvola is free and you can already go there before you get your kela card.

Kela do give maternity money once you cant work anymore. But you dont need to sort that out until much later in the pregnancy. So dont worry about this now.

do you know, is neuvola for free even if i dont have kela card, or social nr?

I know, it might be a very stupid question, what would be for free without kela-card?

Btw, the huge hospital bill is between 1700 and 3500 (or more )euros, depands on the way of the delivery, the days you spend in the hospital, and other things what you or the baby might need during the stay. And you have to pay it BEFORE the delivery, the whole 3500 euros, and they pay back whats left.

Firstly, congratulations! hope all goes well. You should call neuvola and make an appointment, they will see you once you have missed your second period. Also as Sara said go to KELA and get your card sorted out.

Don't worry about this, I spent 8 days in hospital and my bill was 208€, which was only payable after I left hospital. I would just concentrate on getting you KELA card sorted out just now and taking care of yourself.

Thats because you have the Kela card though

With a Kela card its currently €26 a day to stop in Jorvi (Espoo hospital). Without a kela card its a fortune!

Jucus, there was a recent thread on here, where someone without a Kela card was going to Neuvola without any charge

Actually yes she can be 1 or 2 weeks pregnant, which is the same as 4 or 5 weeks amenorhea (counting from first day of last periods).

That is never used though so although you really maybe be just a week or 2 along its always dated earlier. Its easier to use the bigger number as thats what all the medical facilities will use, plus any books, internet sites etc.

umm at the moment im not working at all so will get eny suport then, i guess when i have kela card right?
is it wise to go to work for me right now? i know allso that theres not easy to get job as pregnent...

and what are those ammatti liito things?

I concur. Here they much prefer using the pregnancy date than the amenorhea one as a woman cycle is so unpredictable. At least that was the case for the 6 different obgyn I got to see in Naistenklinikka over the last 3 weeks.

Thats odd, my neuvola and the doctors Ive seen at Jorvi havent once used that figure. Ive been in under observation and had extra growth scans so seen different doctors and midwives.

Maybe its the hospitals that use the different methods?

At least in terms of using internet sites for updates they use the +2 weeks method for when you want to see the development stages.

That reminds me, when I got pregnant there was a big date difference as Id missed a period (wedding stress

) I knew exactly when we had concieved but Neuvola didnt want to know that at all!

I think your talking about the employees unions. They are no help when it comes to pregnancy as far as Im aware. They give legal support for work matters, and provide some unemployment benefit once you've been paying them for so long. I dont know much about them though.

Kela wont pay maternity money until 50 or 30 days before the baby is due anyway. You havent been working so it is the minimum level, but you need to find out if you will get it as you havent been working here at all. Do you have a Finnish partner? It would be good to ask him to enquire what the deal is.

Of course you should go look for a job - Im sure you can use the money if you get one! You dont need to tell them youre pregnant yet.

my hubby has residentship here so i like came here to live together with him..but i was allso working like a month in august..and i have finnish sosial nr ..
we moved new apartment so i need now rent contract and then i register my passport in polise and then i get kela card(hopefully done that all in next week) kela is allready waiting me to register my passport maybe it will go fast then

what woud be the minimum maternity money? if i work will it be bigger?

Im not sure what the min money is.

If you work now it wont increase as they work it out from what you earned last year. But keep in mind you wont get anything until 50 days before baby is due.

The best thing is to get your kela card and then go and ask where you stand with maternity benefits.

Payment of the allowance

Mothers qualify for the maternity/parental allowance from the 154th day of pregnancy. The mother must have been insured under the National Health Insurance for at least 180 days immediately before the date on which the baby is due.

You need to get the Kela card asap as you need to have it for 180 days before your baby is born to receive anything.
