Okay, so after work on Friday, I trekked to a lil deli that sells freshly made Finnish breads adn homemade sausages and whatnot. I picked up some karelian pies, cinnamon buns and some blood sausages. Now I gotta question... How does one cook it? And for how long?

:?:
I thought I'd throw it into the toaster oven at about 300F and just cook it til it was ready... But I had no idea. And my first try turned out bad. I think I overcooked it cause it was kinda hard and tasted kinda burnt. ^___^; Heh.
I got three more sausages left. I'm hoping someone here can teach me how to make it properly.
Help me!! *looks around with puppy dog eyes*

are you talking about
musta makkara? Musta makkara is usually already cooked, so only thing you need to do with it, is to heat it up really quick, couple of min in the microwave etc....

Usually the ones I buy in the supermarket are already cooked so I just heat them up in a frying pan. I love to eat them with some cooked apple and then a few potatoes, or some mash.
I have never seen the "fresh" uncooked blood sausages for sale anywhere but (I am guessing) you are not in Finland, right?
Either, go back to the deli and ask them what to do or try frying them, just a little oil in the pan (they are full of fat).

wow, the traditional way to eat is with lingonberry jam... or you can actually buy sauce,
musta makkarakastike at supermarkets.

If in Finland, heat it on a pan like Penelope says, or throw it for 30 seconds into a micro (poke some holes in it with a fork first). Eat with lingonberry, rowanberry etc. jam. I have never tried apple.
If somewhere else, ask the deli. Although I don´t believe that it is raw.

well, I stupidly forgot to ask...

and it's a LONG way back to the deli from where I live on bus. It's kinda inconvenient so I rather not. I guess I could call them though.
Umm. I dunno if it's musta makkara. all i know is it is called blood suasage in English. and it is made with pig's blood (i think) and barley.
Yeah. I'm in Canada. The deli I went to makes their own fresh blood sausage. But I'm unsure if fresh means "uncooked" when it comes to blood sausages.

Post a picture of what you have and let the experts advise from that.
