Proof-reading, native English person, in Rovaniemi

Hello all,
I am writing my bachelor thesis. I would like to contact a native English person in Rovaniemi to check the language.
- Level of document: bachelor thesis in tourism -> it is not complicated
- Numbers of pages: under 70 pages
- Duration: thesis is completed in the end of Jan 2008
- Location: in Rovaniemi
- Salary: by our mutual agreement + a landscape picture painting by me

Why does the person have to be in Rovaniemi? Have you written your thesis by hand? Or engraved it in granite?

PS: it is more meaningful to indicate the number of words rather than the number of pages.

I dont have much information about proof-reading experiences.
I am living in Rovaniemi. It is estimated about 40000words and typing by computer.

Quite comical really. A site where Finnish translators hope to find work is surely one site you would expect to be available in languages other than Finnish. Don't they realise they might find more work if they actually did what they claim to be good at, and translated their pages into other languages?

Obviously some do, and they find translators on that web site. Even Finns, though, would benefit from better presentation and a search facility.

There are also others who don't understand Finnish yet need material translated to or from Finnish. That market is completely ignored. For example, I currently need several documents translated from Finnish to Estonian. Searching that web site for someone to do the work is too much hassle, so those folks have lost my business purely because of a poor web site.

Usually theres a difference between translators that do from a language to a language... the "to" usually being the native speaker, and in which country they reside in; so from Finnish to Estonian I'd be looking in Estonia.

Try an actual translator forum like Proz.com. Plenty of translators in all language combos there.

Hank: to translate from Finnish to English, I would definitely NOT
look in an English-speaking country.

Ah yes, *where* it also depends on the small/big/rare languages... expats etc. and supply/demand scenario. But if I needed say a Hindi-Finnish translation in Brazil then the situation would be quite... interesting.
