Your median grade should be around 9.3, perhaps even better.

Ressu has open doors-day in February:
"Open Doors Days for 9th graders and their parents are arranged on
Monday 21 January 2008 at 15:00 (in Finnish) and
Wednesday 27 February 2008 at 15:00 (in Finnish) and at 16:00 (in English)"

Ressu is an IB lukio so you will have to sit their entrance exam (I think they test English, Maths and one other subject...) and the interview. Your yla-aste grades will also be taken into account but it is possible to get in with a lower score if your interview and entrance exam go well.

There are other schools offering lukio in English:

SYK (IB)
Kulosaari (AICE - Cambridge A levels)
The English School
The International School of Helsinki (IB)

Eira Aikuislukio (excellent for improving your Finnish skills, fast)

in Espoo:

Etelä Tapiola (AICE)
Mattliden Gymnasium (IB)

If I remember correctly all the IB schools test on the same day so you can only apply to one of them. That situation may have changed but in theory they do not compete with each other.

If you are only in 8th grade just concentrate on getting good grades. Your OPO at school will give you all the information for the on-line application process when you are in 9th grade. There is also a lot of information on the internet. Look under schools in helsinki.fi or espoo.fi and then follow the links to the schools' web pages.

Probably not.

You must have the right number of courses from Yla-aste in order to graduate from comprehensive school and then you would need to do very well in the entrance exams (which would be difficult if you haven't finished the national core curriculum in maths). Also there are many more students applying than there are places...

But in theory, I don't think age is a requirement. I know students who have got in one year early, but OTOH they had completed ninth grade.

Which yla-aste are you in?

I guessed as much. So why the hell are you asking for info on here? Just ask your teachers, and the student councellor, they will give you all the info you need.
