6 Nations Rugby 2008

Post by Delilah » Sun Jan 27, 2008 5:34 pm

Hi,

I can't seem to find the answer anywhere and I'm wondering if anyone can help. I've evidently lost my mind by moving to Finland before the start of this years 6 Nations and I'm desperate to see my Welsh boys in action (especially this weekend against England!). I have no foreign TV channels, only the delights of the Finnish digi box, does anyone know of any bars etc in Jyvaskyla where they might possibly be showing the rugby??? Or indeed of any TV channels it might be shown on?

Help! Please! Someone!

And if anyone has any address in Oulu, that would be great too, even if I'm not going to watch the Welsh team getting beaten once again ;), but more the French kicking some Scottish butts :D

I have this problem too, I noticed that urheilu+Kanava have been showing last years 6 nations for the past few weeks but have no plans for this years games. When I visit my parents place in Cardiff next summer I plan on buying and installing a slingbox but for this year I have decided to get my dad to put his skype phone next to the radio and put my phone on handsfree (stupid bbc not broadcasting sports outside the uk) I had a test run last night and its as clear as having the radio on here.

If Wales do win a couple I will probably make the trip to Helsinki to watch some games live as no bars here show it, and who knows with Warren Gatland as head coach it may not be as dissapointing as the world cup!

That is a good idea, although seeing as it's the BBC you do run the risk of having to listen to the commentary of that @r$3gh013 Brian Moore! If he annoys you as much as me :x then you can still get live BBC Radio Wales over the net and listen to the match that way. I am feeling optomistic this year (like every year! ha ha), think Gatland has a much more pragmatic approach than Gareth Jenkins, whose plan for the world cup was so secret he forgot to tell his players.

Btw does anyone know if the match will be on Canal TV?

I don't know for Canal TV, but I found a way to watch the games on the internet. The quality is not very very good but I think that's better than nothing.
You need to have Windows to run a program (I prefer to say that because I'm on a MacBook).
Then you need to download TVAnts (google will help you with that)
Then go to http://www.myp2p.eu, click on "Live Sport" tab and check the "Other" page. Click on the date (Saturday for Wales/England & Italia/Ireland, Sunday for France/Scotland) and look for the match. Click on the match link, and you will see different channels broadcasting the match. Take one who is available on TVAnts (you will see the program name near that) If you prefer another software check the Software tab on the top of the page.

Enjoy !

I guess by now, your hangover is only slightly smaller than the grin on your Welsh Chops. Brilliant comeback by a side that should have been buried and dead. Typical F.A Cup stuff, where even us English had to applaud, between the WTF are they up too comments. Well done you Leeks, watch out for the recoil !!!!!
I do not need to know you will attend my Funeral. I would rather you call just to say Hi !!

Hi, if you have the CISCO VPN software, and a "VPN connection" from UK you're fine, just connect and then you can see the match. sorry I can't explain this any better, as I'm hopeless with PCs, but if you have Cisco that's the wayto do it

Is there a place to watch England - France game tonight in Helsinki ? Doesn't seem to be in Aussie Bar's programme and Sport Academy may show football games instead...

For all those needing there rugby fix for this years 6 nations, (I know I do)travel to Painobaari in Helsinki near the station (http://www.painobaari.fi) the commentary is in French but its a big screen, and the last last Welsh grandslam victory in 2005 against Ireland, was a great atmosphere, like being in Cardiff, singing drink dragons etc. I will be there to cheer our Boys on against the French tomorrow, see you there! :D
