Does anyone know about weapons in Finland?
What are the rules if I want to buy a weapon? And what if I borrow it from someone else?

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

And I hate the word, "weapon" for a firearm, gives totally the wrong impression.

Why? I think weapon is just another word for firearm..Karhunkoski wrote:And I hate the word, "weapon" for a firearm, gives totally the wrong impression.

So you can get a permit at the police station. But my question is how many people in Finland have a gun. Is it used for protection? Or are firearms only used for police- , sports and hunting purposes?

Well, no. Chuck Norris has to have a licence for his hands... as they are lethal weapons.Tabitha wrote:Why? I think weapon is just another word for firearm..

There are 650 000 persons having a licence for (one or more) firearm. Total there is 1 622 000 licenced firearms, 290 000 are "handguns".Tabitha wrote:But my question is how many people in Finland have a gun.

No, condoms are.
If you count military into "sports" - yes.Or are firearms only used for police- , sports and hunting purposes?

Yes, only hunting, target shooting and police. And you cannot keep it in bedroom drawer either, it has to be locked up. But many people have guns because many people hunt, but they don´t walk around with their hunting rifles. Nobody would get a licence for protection, even the idea is silly. Is it used for protection? Re: firearms law
I thinks weapons include more than just firearms,
what about these?

Re: firearms law
A funny thread....particularly when the poster asks a bunch of questions about something like this and offers no opinions...
Do they then carry out a calculation and decide on the probability of being shot on any particular day if they go out to run an errand??? Or maybe they're planning to knock over a big retail store and are doing a calculation on the probability of some "do-gooder" having a firearm and wrecking their scheme...
