Does anyone know where to buy wood chips for smoking besides Alder (leppä)? I can't seem to find anything else but alder. I would want some hickory or mesquite but can't seem to find anyone that knows anything about it. I'd order from the US but it seems places either don't want to send overseas or else they charge way too much to get it.
A guy at work says he has one of those smoking boxes and uses that on the gas grill to smoke fish and what not. I plan on perfecting my bbq ribs this but gotta get something else than alder.
Oh and if you guys have other ideas and ways for smoking meat it'd be nice to hear about it! Grilling season is here for all I am concerned and I am ready to try new things
Thanks if anyone has some help or ideas!

OK, very easy one.
1. go to the forest
2. find a hickory or a mesquite tree
3. employ a lazy beaver

I'd think I've seen somewhere
hikkorilastu... so how hard can it get?

Yeah I thought about that and would consider it. Does hickory or mesquite grow in Finland? If so all I need is a beaver

In another forum I was told not to bother because I'd end up coming back to alder anyway because of its superiority

Whatever...
Oh and just noticed your links... I hadn't come across that page in my searches. Those are quite pricey.

Well, not seen those kind of trees, but alder does...
