Just to update, I was accepted into Eiran Aikuislukio and am now looking for accommodation in Helsinki, thanks for the help given in this topic. 8)

Liked your blog there!

Your observations reminded me very much of the things I noticed when I used to fly out to Finland from H'row. A trip down memory lane!

Good Luck with everything!

Good luck!

I have visited that Eira high school and talked with Lesley (I forget the last name). A nice man, and seems to be in very good terms with students. The atmosphere there seemed to be very nice.

3 weeks ago I had a PM from the original poster saying he was going back to England and was unlikely to be back.

I replied to him and suggested that for the sake of providing a balanced view to others who are thinking of moving to Finland without many prospects or a clear plan, he might post something on here about his story; i.e. what happened to him.

He hasn't, so before I forget all about the topic, I thought it worth mentioning.

That is all.

A pity. He was so enthusiastic in the beginning.

I wonder what went wrong, and why he didn´t stay in Eiran Aikuislukio. I have visited the school and liked a lot what I saw. And the "adults" there seemed to like it too.

Yep - pity. But at least he tried, you don't always succeed and things don't turn out the way you plan them, even if your plans are clear... that's life for you  My guess is that he might even have succeeded in his secondary school studies, but -based solely on what he's been writing on this forum- living in Hämeenlinna and going to school in Helsinki was perhaps not a good solution in the long run. Well, who knows. I suppose now he is perfect fodder for those who get satisfaction from shooting "told you so" arrows... good luck for yer future Taaremmas if you happen to be reading this
