Can I drive a moped?

Post by rob34 » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:47 pm

When I transferred from my US "CM" license to my Finnish one, I was given a Finnish AB license (for the 'A', portion, I can drive the largest qualification of motorcycle).

I am asking, because if you look at the back of the new EU licenses, the mid-size and large size motorcycle appear to share the same 'A' classification. I guess this mid-size is something like 250-999 CC and the large is 1000 CC and up?

Is A1 the moped? Do I get A1 "for free"?

What about "M"? Is that some kind of electric bicycle?

Moped you can drive with B or A, A1 is lower powered motorcycle, A1 is max 125cm and under 11kw. M is for moped (50cc, max speed 45km/h), if you have B or A or if youre old enough its not needed. M is needed if you are 15 after 1999. E.G im born in 1977 and i dont need anything to run a moped.
If you have a A you can drive whatever motorcycle you want. A is one who commands all, A1 is limited. and without A if you have B you can drive a moped :)
If you have A you have A1 or whatever, its max. A>M, if you have A you have M

Just remember if they took yout card away you arent allowed to use moped :)
And its good you need to know something to get a licence. I almost killed 4 @#$% with mopeds who just came front of me ignoring common sence and rules..

IIRC it is, im not 100% sure tho.
Pappatunturi perkele! police gave fine to "our old guy" because he didnt wear a helmet. He said helmet is on syväri. And he drove max 20km/h. Assholes.
