OK- homma on ihan helppo, menet takisikurssille ja ajat ammattiajokortin liitteen. tiedät kaupungin ja pääset kokeesta läpi

and if you can't understand that - you can't drive taxi in Finland.... OK, so you need to learn enough Finnish language... there is a separate licence and a test

Yes, there is a separate taxi driver license. First you participate a course given by Taksiliitto (it costs), then you take a test, and if you pass, you get the license. The test is in Finnish because you have to know what and where to your clients want. Then you have to know how to get there. Clients often have more to say than the address.

For example I have once said to a taxi: "Lapsivesi meni. Pääsisikö mahdollisimman nopeasti Eiran sairaalaan."

Good call. This usually encourages them to give it plenty of right-foot welly :) They are very protective about their upholstery.

On a more practical note, what has happened to "the knowledge" that taxi-drivers used to have to master? With satnav in every cab, it seems as though they have let it slip somewhat...

Otherwise they will not find anybody anymore to transport that garbage that calls themselves civilized Finns 8) Should try it once at night and pikkujoulu aika. This is what I heard from a driver himself and it won't be different in other countries I think.

What makes me better is that:

I always remember where I was and want to go
I do not trough up in a taxi
I do not shout and or threaten
I do not touch the driver etc.etc.

I also said that it is probably the same in other countries but finns are not at their best when they are drunk as will many trees, police, doctors etc. confirm.

Yea because the entire population of Finland behave in the way you described. What country are you from? I'm sure there is a stereotype about your people that you possibly do not live up to, you are not better than anybody and to think you can say you are and judge others because of how a fraction of them act just makes me think you are a badly misguided person.

If you do not want to understand, you wont understand. And if you can read a paper you can see what happens every weekend and week and why they want to raise the alcohol tax all the time, if you don,t want to see that who is misguided here
