Where to buy 3D glasses?

Post by karen » Fri Aug 08, 2008 3:44 pm

My kid loves playing a game on the Internet and he insists that he needs 3D glasses to make it better. Where can I find 3D glasses in the HEV area? Preferably near Leppävaara, but I do go into other areas when necessary.

green and red cellophane like what you cover books with and cardboard... about 5 minutes...

Lisäksi tarvitaan vielä 3d-lasit. Näitä saa helpoiten internetistä, esim. www.3dglassesonline.com, mutta nopeiten Espoosta Teknillisen korkeakoulun kirjakaupasta. Siellä yksinkertaiset pahvikehyksiset lasit maksavat 5 eur.

can't think a quick place really - unless they have the stuff in crafts stores like sinooperi for doing those fake glass window things... but they're usually fogged up and for that you need clear... colored plastic from the bin at industrial Etola... but a quick fix I'd take two overhead projector sheets and just stick a bit of that "kirjamuovi" in between... or kontaktimuovi. for professional I'd use photo filters... but I guess the ordering online is the easiest (but lacks the joy of doing)

Maybe in Tiimari, or failing that there's the more serious craft shop beside kamppi-keskus.

I visited both Sinelli and Sinooperi and the best they had to offer was colorless transparencies. I tried coloring it with my markers, but they aren't made for plastic. I'm now trying alcohol inks, but the shade of blue I have may not work. Talk about D-I-Y!

Karen, I recently saw the new Journey To The Center of The Earth in 3D here in the states. They let us keep the glasses, so I'd be happy to bring them back and give them to you. They're not the typical looking 3D glasses though (one side blue, one side red). Both sides are clear and the rims are made of plastic rather than cardboard. We'll be back next week, so pm me if you need them.

I'd go with the colored (transparent) plastic "kontaktimuovi" and stick that on the overhead... I think stockmann sells it so you could buy was it a meter or half the smallest amount... but tiimari sells rolls for the same price... don't know of the shade of red or blue/green though...

The easiest way is to buy the 3D-Dinosaurs book that is currently selling at newsstands (or at least the one in Akateeminen in Helsinki had it). It comes with 3D-glasses, but check that there really are there, I saw one book without.

But what kind of game is it? The reg-blue glasses will only work with pictures that are designed for it (like here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_image), and they wouldn't be playable without them. There are other types of 3D glasses, but again, the game needs to be designed for them.

Yes you should make them compusory to wear these 3D glasses while playing games on computer. It will not harm their eyes directly.
