Me... I haven't used ABC as I didn't know where their fuel came from.

Teboil / Lukoil is Russian, I prefer to give my business to a Finnish firm so I have not used them in the last 3 or 4 years.

I have no problem with Shell, but the nearest is opposite an A24 which is always cheaper. So I try to stick to Neste ...preferably A24 stations, I know there are plenty of them along the routes I use. (yes I know Neste uses Russian crude!)
I think all the A24 stations will gradually be re-branded as Neste. At long last, it appears that company has understood something about branding. For years I thought A24 was a Skandi outpost of BP  . Our local unmanned station has been through a real identity crisis... was green and yellow, then it turned bright red, now it's green and blue. And it is now the cheapest petrol around, which has never been the case before as long as I remember.

I guess ABC has traders to buy petrol from various suppliers (probably including Teboil, Neste and others). So there is no knowing where a particular station has got it from. It's quite complicated: remember the dirty petrol affair in the UK a couple of years ago (my sis was one of thousands of victims)? It took weeks to figure out exactly where in the supply chain the petrol had been contaminated. Turned out it was neither retailer, nor refiner. But some middle-man storage company that had dirty tanks.

The big difference between Neste and SOK is that SOK owns the whole retail supply chain for the ABC marts whereas Neste and K-kauppa are separate companies.

Anyway, we need to fill up on domestic fuel, so I guess I have to spend an evening googling prices... :|

Not really.. some of the ABC's can also have their gas pumps run by Neste/A24 or TEboil ( e.g. Pikkala ABC is not ABC's ).
Also, the retail supply chain for gas is not universal as the operations are outsourced ( e.g. checking and ordering of fuel.. Same guy goes from 1 station to another regardless of brand and orders the gas for all of them depending on their volume requirements for each station... I ve had a chat with one of them in the 51 stop at Inkoo where the Neste is owned by the Pakistani owners and run by them but at the same place, the A24 is run by the same company along with a chain of stations including Degerby Teboil and Pikkala ABC gas stations)..

Domestic fuel? Finland has it's own sources of oil? When it comes down to it, it all comes from outside of Finland. ;)

(For Brits, domestic fuel = heating oil for the home. Probably an out-of-date expression these days, but it was still in the lingo when I left in the late 70s)

Oh hehe since people here were talking about supporting this and that company I then thought you meant that all of us need to use domestic fuel to support Finland. Now I totally understand what you meant ;)

I have no intention of getting into any kind of a discussion with you but..... to be crystal clear....

- Neste Oyj does not own K-kauppa, eg: Neste has no control over prices charged in the mini-marts situated on its forecourts.

- S group owns the retail outlets for ABC, and supplies the mini-marts situated on the forecourts.

I was responding to sinikala's remark that the petrol stations do not make money on the petrol any more, they make money from the coffee shops and the mini-marts. In fact, the two companies (Neste and SOK) have a completely different business model. Neste is in the oil business. SOK is a retailer.

I was not talking about individual petrol stations. Most operate on a franchise basis and, as you illustrate in your post, the person(s) operating a petrol station can have as many as they wish, in different colours, all over the country. Same with ice-cream. If I wanted to, I could sell Valio ice-cream in Tapiola and Ingmans in Hankö. (But I don't).

Neste tends to be the exception of rule which was stated here. They own refinery business in Finland so they can afford to compete with price. Specially since they supply much of the fuel for other chains, and get to take some profit from that too. Which other chains of course have to move to prices or end up doing loss.
