Does anybody know something about MikkeliAMK or TampereAMK entrance exams?
It seems to me they keep all information in secret))

Also I dont think you have to write a motivation letter this year because you're interviewed so I guess the motivation part is oral instead of written.
I guess you might need a compass for some trigonometry stuff. You might have to draw a circle and it will be much cleaner using a compass.

Also, the personal interview is written, or at least it was last year. They call it interview but actually you won't be talking to anybody.

I am currently studying for the math exam for Metropolia Environmental Sciences Program.
As they offer no study guide of sample questions, does anyone know what level and type of exam this is?
3hr 45min is all I know
Is it a multiple choice structure?
Who has taken this could best help me prepare for the April entrance exam
Thank you
No it's not a multiple choice structure. It's a serie of small problems you have to solve, giving all the necessary details.
And if you would have read this thread and metropolia's website you would know about the content and level ^^
The high school level is roughly the same in all EU countries, so just take whatever european high school math book you can find and that will do.

And to all of you, honestly, there's no need to stress much about this exam  Just go through your basic high school maths, and I'm shure you'll do fine. The problems are short and straight-forward, you will usually need only one or two calculations to find the solution.
I'd recommand you learn the most important formulae/theorems by heart since last year they didn't give them. (Stuff like pythagoras or thales theorem, simple trigonometry formuales like cos=adj/hyp, cos²x+sin²x=1, the rules for finding the derivative of a function, ... You see what I mean.)

And IF you would find it really hard and fail, remember that the level of maths/physics/chemistry you are going to study once you are in this programme is way above that of the entrance exam, so maybe it's better not to get in and go for another degree programme than to get in and drop out after the first semester :?

Ah...I had assumed interview was speaking with someone. Guess not...good to know though.

As for the compass, yup...I was just confused with their term "pair of compasses" but I figured it out.

One other technical question, they also said to bring a calculator. I have a TI83 Plus graphing calculator...do you think I'll be allowed to use that or should I just buy simple calculator. Maybe I should ask them these questions :P

IIRC, I had my TI-85 with me back in the day in last century... the real universities didn't allow anything that could do fancier things than addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Also the use of MAOL was allowed, in UAS exam. Dunno how things are done today and if there are different rules for English exams.
And you definitely should ask things also from the school... and maybe share the answers?

A friend of mine did the Environmental Engineering degree at TAMK, and for the entrance exam he studied maths, physics and chemistry. Additionally, if you have a look at the Books of "The World in 2008" or the 2009 version you should have a good idea of the topics they might ask questions about.

I need to warn you though, all Env. Engineers I know don't work in the field, at the moment its very difficult to find a job here in Finland in that area. But by the time you graduate that should be different =)
