Seems to be in Jyväskylä area.

There are threads in this forum report some less than honest practices by farm owners - I have no reason to suspect of the OP but it would be useful if you could ad further information like:

- Accomodation free/paid (you've got that one :thumbsup: )
- farm/employer's name and location;
- pay basis like the above user asked;
- average income for a worker;
- references if available.

Etc.

There are so many people looking for summer jobs now so if you wait for them to call you just to answer your questions, i dont think thats gonna happen. and beside you are living abroad. maybe its best for you guys to call the employer. Just a word of advice.
If you wish to convince people of something, it is more useful to be entertaining than to be right

Mr Viet, are you a middle man? Your name is not Finnish. Or do you own the farm?

I've never dne something like that so I have no idea how much works it requires really. But from other posts I gathered that it was hard work, squatting to pick them up. Can you really pick up 9 kg easily in one hour?

Haven't done it either.
Probably not easily, it's hard work and it will show in your back (at least for the first few days.)

It is possible, speacially during the main season. Also, if you are lucky while the owners of farms take a good care of strawberry plant from now then may be much more than that. Of course, it is not the same for everyday, but on avarage it could be reached.

It is hard work, oviously. But somethings is better than nothing, isn't it?

I have done it. Brutal work. Gets on your knees, back, skin gets burnt, insects eat you alive. :lol: Horrriiiible! I don´t believe it´s possible to pick 9kg per hour. Has to be a very fast picker or very heavy berries.

Here are the official rules for wages etc. for strawberry picking in 2009:
http://www.tyosuojelu.fi/upload/marja2009eng.pdf.

Most of the Finns coming from countryside has experience in strawberry picking. As mentioned here many times, it's hard work but if you are hardworking, no matter what the weather is, you can earn good money. You can either be paid by hour, per kilo or per box. 100-120 kilos a day is duable when the weather is good.

Normally you get homemade food twice, breakfast plus coffee with fresh bread a day in these farms.

if you are looking for an easy joyride, forget it.
