Tax back on Language Courses?
Just wondering folks...I am going to the Turun kesäyliopisto for a course...It's a bit pricey! Can you get tax back when you do language courses?
Anyone bothered to try?

Well, the thing is what would it fall under? If its related to work then theres a chance, but it needs to go over the basic automatic deduction = tulonhankkimisvähennys.

Would you be claiming it under a TMI or Oy?
Why not. Worth a try.

See I need it for my job...translating in classes.
I don't have that private business thing anymore...the company I work for pay my tax and I don't do any 'real' freelance work.

Seems that if you need that course because of your current job it could be possible to get tax back but there isnt clear law about it.

Well, teachers can deduct literature etc. "keeping profession up to date" so I guess a course would fall under the same category.

I mean...I will just try, and if they say 'no' then no it is. Better that than someone posting on this board in 1 year saying "I claimed money back for a course and got it"...
I claim for all materials and expenses I get money back but I never know what they accept and don't...Quite frustrating as I might be wasting my time for somethings and not doing it seriously enough for others.

There you go....
I used to strict as hell with my scraps of paper but got lazy and spend 3 days trashing the house the other month.
Can you use your bank statements for proof?
