Does anyone knows if Arcada in Helsinki is a private school or not?
Thanks

Arcada Helsinki
Re: Arcada Helsinki
Hi,
the administration of the Finnish Universities of Applied Science (=polytechnics in Ministry of Education-speak) is arranged in a slightly different manner from that of the 'traditional' academic universities. The administration system of the UAS may vary slightly from one institution to another -
Arcada is run by the Arcada Foundation, which is -if I'm not wrong- a "privately-owned foundation" (?)
http://www.arcada.fi/en/about-arcada/ad ... management
Info on the UAS system, and the list of recognised institutions, can also be found on the Min of Ed pages:
http://www.minedu.fi/OPM/Koulutus/ammat ... s/?lang=en
Note that the Ministry won't use the name "UAS / University of Applied Science", but "Polytechnic". But these terms do refer to the same institutions. Why this is so... is another story

Just for the record - Arcada is definitely not Swedish but Finnish. However the language of instruction is Swedish.Eliss wrote:I don't think it's private.. But I know, that it is swedish..
The difference may seem obvious, but I have met people who seriously thought Hanken was an offshore campus of some Swedish university
